Installation of a Radiant System Print
Having selected your Radiant System, installation can begin.  The first thing installed in your home will be the basement in floor tubing.  After the insulation is installed we can staple the tubing to the insulation or tie it to wire mesh, if the mesh is used.

While your concrete is poured, we will have ht e tubing pressurized so that in the very unlikely event the tubing is damaged, the damage will be noticed and the tubing can be repaired.  I have never had tubing damaged during a concrete pour.

Once your floor dries, we can install the boiler and other systems, such as duct work.  Once the upper floors are covered with a roof, we can install any tubing on the upper floors.  We simply staple this tubing to the wooden sub floor with a pneumatic stapler.

Selecting a Radiant System Print
So far we have learned that Radiant Heat is an old technology made new, and like the Sun, it gives off heat in all directions for the greatest comfort possible.

How do we  do it?  First we calculate a room by room heat loss for your home, then we select the appropriate fuel source, and a boiler to power the system.

From heat Perfect Source Fuels & Mechanical can provide a quote.  Often we quote a variety of systems with a selection of boilers.  A pre-quote consolation can help narrow the choices.

System options include a fully radiant system, with in floor heating on every floor of the home, of hybrid systems that have in floor in the basement and forced air on the upper floors using an air handler.  Other choices include base board heaters, pool heating and snow melt systems.

Different systems have different prices, different efficiencies and different comfort levels.  Our job is to find the system that is right for you and your family.  There are many factors to consider.

Radiant vs. Forced Air Print
Under the Cold 70 Rule, cold objects around you will make you feel cold.  The reverse then is that warm objects will make you feel warm as well.

With what I like to call a "scorched" air furnace over heated, dried out air is pumped into a room.  People often say heat rises, which is not quite right.  Hot air rises.  This scorched air rises straight to the ceiling.  The walls are still cold, and the furniture is still cold, and the floor is cold, but the thermostat is happens to have just the right temperature to shut it off.

Just like the freezers at the grocery store, all the cold objects around you make you feel cold.  So you turn up the thermostat, using more heat, which mostly goes to the ceiling, and the highest floor in the house.  So the basement is damp and cold, while the second story of a two story home is too hot.

The chart below shows the wildly varying temperatures in a forced air heat room, but also shows a radiant room.
